Office 2021 Professional Plus Install Instructions
Your license key was shown on the previous page and has also been emailed to you (please check spam if you can’t find it)
Please follow the steps below fully (you cannot redeem your code on setup.office.com you need to follow the instructions below):
Step 1: Run the uninstall tool from Microsoft (pick to remove all versions of Office) : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/uninstall-office-automatically-9ad57b43-fa12-859a-9cf0-b694637b3b05
Please ensure you run the uninstall tool as Microsoft 365 is installed by default when installing Windows and it will cause issues if it hasn’t been removed!
None of your files will be affected when uninstalling old versions of Office, files created eg Excel/Word documents will stay on your system and open on your new version when installed – Outlook emails and folders will automatically be picked up by the new version aswell.
If you are asked to restart your PC please bookmark this page and restart, if you are asked if you want to reinstall Office pick ‘No’.
Step 2: (Please note Microsoft now provide the same installer for Office 365 and Office 2021, it is perfectly normal for Office 365 to show during the install when you enter the activation code at the end the program will automatically revert over to Office 2021)
Choose your language and click the link to download the IMG file. The download process should start after clicking the link (click the link once clicking multiple times will start multiple downloads which will slow the download)
To check the status of the download do the following:
Google Chrome users: click the three dots in the top right then click ‘Downloads’ look for the ProPlus2021Retail.img download, when the download finishes click ‘Keep File’ if shown.
Microsoft Edge users: click the three dots in the top right then click ‘Downloads’ look for the ProPlus2021Retail.img download, when the download finishes click ‘Keep File’ if shown.
Firefox users: click the three lines in the top right then click ‘Downloads’ look for the ProPlus2021Retail.img download, when the download finishes click ‘Keep File’ if shown.

Depending on your browser and system settings you may see a message stating this file can harm your computer – this is due to the file extension of the file (IMG) this download is directly from Microsoft (can be confirmed via the download link URL) – you can safely click ‘Keep File’.
Once the download has finished downloading move on to step three, to check if the download has finished please do the following:
If you are using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge click the three dots in the top right of the browser and click downloads this will show the progress.
If you are using Firefox click the three lines in the top right and click downloads this will show the progress.
Step 3: Installation

To do this, access your Downloads folder to locate the downloaded IMG file and right-click on the IMG file and select the option mount from the contextual menu. See the screenshot below. This will mount the file as a virtual device and allow you to access it like a pen drive, if you don’t see a mount option please just open the file with Windows Explorer to do this right click the IMG file, highlight ‘Open With’ then select ‘Windows Explorer’ then skip the ‘installing’ step below and instead just run the Setup file inside the folder that opened then skip ahead to ‘Activation’.

After doing this step, on the left side of this same window, you will see that an Office device appears under This Pc. Click on the new device (1), and then in the right side of the window you will see the content. Finally, double-click on the setup file. You can see it in the screenshot above as the number (2). This will start the installation process.
The installer will choose the best Office version for your computer. However, if you want to force a 64-bit installation. You can do this by accessing the Office folder and running the file named Setup64.
Step 4: Activation:
After completing the installation process, reboot your operating system. When done, start one of the Office applications (Word, for example). After some seconds a new window will popup asking to enter the product key. Enter your product key (your product key has been emailed to you if you can’t find it please check spam, if you still can’t locate it please click the ‘chat with us’ button and we will assist) then click the Activate Office button.
That’s all. Now you have your Office completely installed and activated. Enjoy your Office suite, please remember that Office 2021 installs each application so you won’t find a link for ‘Office’ on your system unlike Office365, you will instead have links for Word,Excel eg, you can find these by searching on your Start Menu as shown below:
